…Burmillas?
Introducing an exciting and very special breed of cat: the Burmilla!
Burmillas first appeared in the United Kingdom in 1981. When a housekeeper inadvertently left open one too many doors, a lovely lilac Burmese wandered into the boudoir of a fetching chinchilla Persian. A forbidden love blossomed, and before they were discovered … oops!
The resulting kittens were strikingly beautiful, with sparkling soft silver coats and deep emerald green eyes. They inherited the intelligence of their Burmese mother and the sweet loving disposition of their Persian father. The combination soon had a devoted following among European cat enthusiasts. The breed has been developing steadily over the years, first in Europe, then Australia. Now the Burmilla has arrived in the United States, under the care of a handful of breeders who are working toward elevating it to Championship status in both CFA and TICA.
On the energy scale, the Burmilla falls smack in the middle of its great-great-great-great ancestors: the athleticism of the Burmese is there, but tempered by the laid-back calm of the Persian. The Burmilla is a perfect blend for the modern American family who wants an intelligent, affectionate, and loyal companion; one who is playful, but won’t be found swinging from the chandelier. This is a cat that is content to spend its weekend learning tricks to entertain you, then relaxing on your lap when the day is done.
Because “Megarex” doesn’t really make one think of Burmillas, we will be working with them under our former cattery name of Shiverden in both TICA and CFA.
Introducing: Gin!
Just arrived from the beautiful faraway island of Reunion, a gift from Chatterie de la Rivière des Marsouins,
this sweet and lovely boy has already stolen our hearts!

I was very excited to purchase a burmilla but in the burmilla books it claims that this breed must eat every day raw meat? It this true?
Waiting on your reply!
Sincerely,
Janice
Absolutely NOT true. Some breeders do prefer to feed a “raw” diet to their cats, which is not just raw meat; it is a blend of meats and vitamins that they make themselves. This type of food is a personal choice. You do not HAVE to feed them a raw diet, unless you have done the research and agree that this is the best diet for the cat. Personally I believe that cats do well with some raw foods in their diet, but I do not feed exclusively raw.
